All enclosed starters are pre-wired and simple to install. Available in either Nema 4X polycarbonate, Nema 4 steel and with a few small units available in Nema 1. Getting the right set up for your application requires the customer to know the control Voltage (coil Voltage), main Voltage and HP at a minimum. Please call if you have any questions. Additional sizing information can be accessed above under the Technical Support link.
Three primary control types that are standard:
Push Button (DOL) type - uses momentary push button start and stop with backfeed wiring through the contactor auxiliary contact. Simple push to start and push to stop. Some applications require the use of a backfeed latch so that if main power is dropped to the motor starter - the unit unlatches and requires reactivation once power is restored. For safety purposes... Ex. would be a table saw but in most applications this would be the preferred control type.
Hand Off Auto (HOA) type - uses a three position rotary switch for starter activation. Hand position engages the starter without other conditions. Auto position relies on a remote switch closure for contactor activation. Our standard Auto set up is looking for a remote switch contact Closure to activate the contactor. The customer should consider the Control Voltage being used for remote operation. Reduced Voltage controls such as 120V should be used due to safety and limit switch ratings especially for 480V applications. For HOA applications either a transformer should be included in the enclosure or separate control Voltage should be provided by the customer.
Air Compressor (ACMS) type - works same as the auto for the HOA type. It uses a two position On/Off switch. When in ON position the contactor relies on a remote switch closure (the pressure switch on the air compressor) to engage and disengage as needed. As with the HOA type the customer should consider the control Voltage for safety purposes and pressure switch limits.
