Our low cost, pre-wired, enclosed motor starters provide the same great starters and controls as the our other set ups but use a lower cost polycarbonate enclosure. The unique design of this enclosure allows the use of a more compact set up. The enclosure cover extends far down on the sides, when the cover is removed it allows better access to the motor starter for main power and motor wiring. See pictures for example.
This set up uses Push Button (DOL) type controls. A momentary push button start and stop is provided and wired with backfeed through the contactor auxiliary contact. Simply, push to start and push to stop. Using this type of backfeed latch provides extra safety and some applications require the use of a backfeed latch so that if main power is dropped to the motor starter during power outage or overload trip. Pushing the start button is needed to reengage the starter after such events so that the machine does not start back once power is restored. Example would be a table saw but in most applications this would be the preferred control type.
These low cost units are available pre-wired and sized for the following:
208-230V 3PH
480V 3PH
240V 1PH
120V 1PH
The control Voltage is the same as the supply Voltage, however, there is an option on each listing to use 120V controls. On these low cost, compact units, if choosing the 120V control option, note that the 120V is supplied separately from the main power. It is not generated internally within the enclosed motor starter assembly. To clarify, if you choose a 5HP 480V set up with the option to have 120V controls, you will be providing the 120V control power in addition to the main 480V power. Larger enclosed units have the option to build in a transformer to generate the 120V for the controls.
Note: These type of controls are NOT suitable for air compressors or equipment using remote limit switches. See ACMS or HOA models for those type controls.
